Cook like a local while learning the secrets of Okinawa's food culture that mainly contributes to life's longevity on the island!

What to expect:

⁍ A 3-hour hands-on cooking class on the best of Okinawa cuisines with a food market tour;
⁍ A 3-course menu that consists of a classic appetizer, main dish, soup, and dessert;
⁍ An exploration of different methods of making a 'dashi', a pork stock or bonito stock as part of the history; and
⁍ A class that is facilitated by a bilingual Okinawan food enthusiast with professionally trained chef-instructors.

Each class is carefully designed for both novice and accomplished cooks with teamwork activities that allow interaction among participants while doing the food preparation process for every skill under the supervision of our chef-instructors.

Inclusion

Set A: Goya Champuru、Miso Rafute、A-sa jiru、Sata Andagi
 1. Goya Champuru
This is the most traditional Okinawa dish. It's a bitter gourd stir-fried with tofu, egg, and bonito flakes.
 2. Miso Rafute
Juicy and tender Okinawa pork cooked in a sweet miso sauce.
 3. A-sa jiru
Mild-flavored soup made with bonito soup stock and 'a-sa', an Okinawa seaweed.
 4. Sata Andagi
Traditional Okinawa-style doughnut.

Set B: Okinawa Soba、Mozuku-su、Jyushi、Sata Andagi
 1. Okinawa Soba
Traditional Okinawa noodle soup cooked in a pork stock (dashi) and bonito stock.
*Everything will be made from scratch even the making of noodles.
 2. Mozuku-su
A superfood, mozuku, another Okinawa seaweed, made with sweet vinegar sauce.
 3. Jyushi
Rice cooked with pork/bonito stock (dashi) and various ingredients.
 4. Sata Andagi
Traditional Okinawa-style doughnut.

Note

1. Please notify us in advance about any food restrictions or allergies you may have.
2. Traditional Okinawan 'sanpincha', a cold Jasmine tea, will be provided for free all throughout the cooking period.
*Other non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks are available with an extra charge at the cooking studio.
3. For more than 10 participants, please inquire a group charge.

Schedule
15:30-16:15 - The Walking Tour
This will take place at Naha Makishi Public Market located nearby international street (Kokusai Dori). Be ready to learn about locally grown products and carefully select ingredients used in the cooking class.

16:15-18:30 - The Hands-On Cooking
This is a preparation of three or four-course menu. These classes are facilitated by a bilingual Okinawan food enthusiast with professionally trained chef-instructors.
Cancellation Policy
☞ 50% of the payment will be charged - Cancellation made 2 days before the scheduled day,
☞ 100% of payment will be charged - Cancellation made on the scheduled day
*If a participant is unable to turn up at designated meeting location and time for any reason, a full amount of payment will be charged.
